The History of Bristol Cars – A Resource For Enthusiasts

Bristol Cars Limited was an iconic bespoke car manufacturer that grew out of one of Britain’s pioneering aero engineering companies, as part of  postwar diversification.

Starting in 1946 the Car Division of the Bristol Aeroplane Company built small volumes of cars to aircraft standards within sight of the runway at Filton.

This website is a resource for anyone who is interested in the cars, the men who built them, how they were designed and where they were driven and raced.

Sadly Bristol Cars Ltd went into liquidation in March 2020 and the assets have been sold. The Bristol Owners Heritage Trust exists to conserve, archive and celebrate Bristol cars, from their first iteration as radical, innovative and super streamlined products of the Car Division to the final models, the potent, discreet Blenheim and the astonishing  8 litre gullwinged Fighter.

With generous donations from individuals and the Bristol Owners Drivers Association, we have secured as much as possible from the factory – correspondence and plans from the earliest days, wind-tunnel concept models, Works photographs, and the wooden bucks upon which the cars were built.
