The Type 401 was a huge step forward in technology, metallurgy, streamlining and style. Based on the same chassis and running gear as the 400, but using Touring Milano’s radical Superleggera framework to support its lightweight, wind tunnel evolved alloy shell, the Type 401 was arguably Britain’s most advanced car of the era – some might say ever since. Note the Alex Moulton designed massive alloy forged bumpers, and the streamlined push-button door openers and absence of bonnet or boot handles, giving it a remarkably low Cd of 0.32.
