Organisation Chart Map of National Type Approval for  Bristol Cars Ltd 1981

Whilst trawling (trolling?) through the archives, the following yellowing, rather crumpled organisational map came to light. This was back in the day when Bristol Cars Ltd was still at the Filton site. But times were changing, and no longer would the BAC barrier glide upwards and a uniformed commissionaire salute smartly when I swept up to the gate in RLD 787, my 403.

NTA must’ve been quite a challenge for a small manufacturer, but Bristol Cars Ltd clearly swung into action when this was required. The great names are on this chart; Sevier, Gibbard, Hurkett, Holder, Jenkins, Marsh, Lovesy, and Storey. Anyone fortunate enough to have visited the time warp Filton premises, with its lino floors and two bar electric fires in that era would have encountered one or more of these epic figures. Dennis Sevier designed this chart in February 1978, presumably to meet forthcoming regulation in 1981, by the then  Board of Trade perhaps. And Tony Crook, who was nobody’s fool, signed it off in the top right hand corner.
