Donors may ask – What have you done with our money?
The Display car: We have prepared and restored a barn find Type 403 for display in Aerospace Bristol , just across the Brabazon runway from its original birthplace. This is said to be one of the most photographed items in the new Museum.
The Document Rescue Mission: We rescued and archived to a considerable amount of priceless early correspondence and paperwork from the final clear out at the Patchway works when they went into administration.
The Magazines: We have acquired and catalogued over 500 magazines with Bristol related articles going back to the 1940s.
The Brochures: We have acquired most of the known brochures. press reviews and pamphlets related to the sales and marketing of Bristol cars from their inception. These have been indexed and stored in archival containers.
The 1950s glass slides: We have digitised over 3000 large glass slides of factory processes, car testing and racing, and model shots taken by Ted Ashman, the works photographer at Filton.
The Palawan Book: Over 300 of these splendid images have been published by Simon Draper’s Palawan Press in their 2018 high-end Book, Car Division – awarded Historic Motoring Publication of the Year by Octane magazine.
The Videos: We have recorded video interviews with many key personnel inolved with Bristols from the early days to this century – attached free to view on this website via YouTube (top menu bar)
The Archives: We are digitising all our collection, which is downloaded onto the City of Bristol Collections management system, making it searchable and retrievable – free – for research and education, in line with our charitable brief.
The Educational programme : We hold regular lecture days in a variety of venues, combining history of the marque with something of the aeronautical engineering background that is implicitly in the DNA of these remarkable vehicles.
